Anyone Remember Little Kiddles Dolls?

The I'm New post got me thinking about a favorite childhood toy of mine, Little Kiddles. There were made around 1966 - 1972.
I did a search on e-bay and found a really nice collection of them. The link is below. There is a close up picture that has my childhood favorite - the blond in the lavander dress. I really wish I had saved some of these toys. Even though they would not be in perfect condition, it would be fun to look at them. That is one reason I am planning on saving DD's AGs even if she loses interest. I think one day, far in the future, she might become interested again.


I was always family oriented when I played with my dolls as a child. Today, our AG dolls are usually just girlfriends hanging out, going to school and having sleepovers. Sometime the big 23" MyTwinn serves as the "adult" - either a teacher or a Mom. Alas, there is never a Dad.

When I was a kid, my doll play almost always consisted of:
Barbie was the Mom.
Ken was the Dad (poor Ken- he only had a tuxedo and a swimsuit to wear.)
The Dawn dolls were the older kids (dark haired Angie was my favorite - I thought Angie was such a cool name when I was a girl).
The Little Kiddles were the babies. My favorite Little Kiddle had white/blond hair and a lavender dress. It came in a lavender plastic "locket" and I think it smelled good - like the doll was scented with lilac.

I looked on e-bay for these dolls awhile ago and the pictures on the auctions really brought back some fond memories.

My daughter was born in 1964 and she had these dolls and the Sunshine Family. What great memories.

OH MY GOODNESS! I have not seen these dolls since I was a little girl. Mind you, I am still young (only 22) but my mother had saved her dolls from when she was a child. I remember the one with short blond hair, pink/flowered dress, and the blue locket. I think she had a headband too. My mom also saved her barbie house from the 60s and my dolls would play there, even though the workout center, modern fridge, and remote-control motorcycle didn't quite fit in with the homes decor! I had one Little Kiddle. She came with a pink four-poster bed and I believe she was Sleeping Beauty or some such person.

I always wanted a Kiddle that came in the perfume bottle and smelled yummy but I never got one. There were also ones that girls would wear to school around their neck; I never had any of those either. I was so happy just to have my one. I wish I still had her!

Judi, you must be close to my age! (Or, maybe younger.) I received a little kiddle for my 9th birthday in 1966! (I can't remember if she was in a 'locket' that was worn around the neck though. I want to say mine was 'pinned?') I was so excited, because the little kiddles were the new rage that year! I also remember receiving 'Heidi' for Christmas that year. (She was in a red plastic pocketbook, and you pressed her tummy for her to 'wave.') She had long whitish blond hair.

Ahhh, the memories of childhood dolls. Did you ever have a 'Penny Brite' doll?

Judi! I had lots of those! OH my....I really could almost cry when I look at them. I used to go to the dime store and buy them. I loved them all.....

I had some too! I remember mine coming in a little bottle and they did smell good. There were lots of different colors. Jenny when you said you went to the "dime store" that really took me back to when I was young and my Mom would take me to the dime store (Woolworths or Kresge's) and we would sit and the counter and have lunch.

Now when she mentions going to the dime store, my kids will ask "do you mean the dollar store Grandma?"

I had the Lilac doll in the perfume bottle. I also had Penny Brite. There was a thread the other day (here or AGE) about Betsy McCall I think. I thought I had one as a little girl but now I think it was Penny Brite. I had so much fun with all those dolls as a little girl. I wish I'd saved more of them!

Your post really got me thinking so I did a search on the web to see if I could find "my" childhood Kiddle.

Since several of us are from the same "era," did anyone have Chrissie and/or Velvet? I had Velvet. I sold her on eBay several years ago. She was in practically mint condition and I had her original box, etc.

How about a Kenner Easy Show? I LOVED mine!! I used to sit in my closet and watch Superman. I may have also had The Three Stooges.

Was Chrissie the doll that had hair that you could make grow out of her head? I had one like that and I think Chrissy was her name, and was there another one like her?
